Estes bunkers tinham um desenho standard  a pensar no seu fácil fabrico. As torretas eram inicialmente de veículos danificados para lá de reparação, mas mais tarde desenvolveram uma versão simplificada da torreta sem os equipamentos necessários a uma que equipasse um veículo.

These bunkers were standart design in order to be easily built. Initially the turrets came form vehicls damaged beyond repair, but then a simplified version was built without the equipment required for a vehicle.

BUILDING MY VERSION

Queria acrescentar alguns detalhes, portanto optei por pintar o modelo com aerografo e inseri-lo num diorama.

I wanted to add some details so I decided to airbrush the model and insert it in a diorama

 

Algumas juntas que não me correram bem foram betumadas. A junção das várias chapas da torreta, sendo desenhadas na folha iriam desaperecer com a nova pintura. Fiz incisões com bisturi para levantar algumas camadas da cartolina; a irregularidade das camadas expostas serviram para dar a ideia de soldadura.

Some of the joints didn't went well for me, so I puttied them. The printed plate joints would vanish after airbrushing over. So i made incisions with a scalpel to remove some layers of the card. The rough finishing of the exposed layers would do as welding joints.

Levantei um pouco as chapas do topo da torreta (como nos desenhos que encontrei) e apliquei um cordão de Milliput para fazer as grossa soldaduras. Foi uma operação delicada porque tinha de molhar as mãos para mais facilmente manipular o Milliput e acabei por manchar o modelo.

I raised a little the top plates from the turret (as per the drawings I found) and applied a cord of Milliput as welding seems. It was a delicat operation as accidentally I let some water dorps on the printed card.  

A base do diorama foi construida com pedaços de K-line. Os laterais em cartão grosso, laminado em 3 camadas.

The ground base was built with illustration board. The sides of the base were done laminating thick grey cardboard in 3 layers. 

A rede de camuflagem é de uma embalagem de alhos.Imaginem a minha mulher a escolher alhos pela cor da embalagem. Vêm em lilás, verde e laranja.

The camouflage net is just a supermarket package of garlics. Imagine my wife choosing garlics by the colour of the pack. They come in pink, green and orange.    

O K-line não aceita gesso, usei Das Pronto, que até é mais resistente e talvez até mais leve, pois pode-se laminar fino. Antes de estender o "lençol", apliquei cola de madeira para segurar bem o das Pronto.

The illustration board doesn't behave well with wet gypsum so I went for Das Printo clay, wich is actually more hard and resistant; eventually lighter as I laminate it very slim.. Before spreading the sheet I applied white glue to assure the clay to be well bonded. 

O cepo do pinheiro foi feito com excedente de das Pronto.

The pine tree trunk was done with leftover of clay.

Encontrei um plano de um destes bunkers com uma extensão e uma chaminé retráctil (para que a torreta rodasse 360º, acho eu)do fogão de aquecimento. O método construtivo dispensa explicações.

I found a line drawing of one of these bunkers with an extension and a retractible cheminey (so that the turret would turn 360º, I guess). The photos are self-explanatory.   

As tábuas que seguram o talude são texturas de madeira impressas em cartolina e coladas a cartão um pouco mais grosso. Os topos foram pintados com pastel. The boards holding the bare slope are made with textures of woof printed on card and laminated to thicker card to give the proper thickness. The edges were finished with pastel.

As novas folhagens da Noch vêm num gel transparente como suporte. Depois de coladas com cola de madeira no terreno, não se vê o gel.

The new flocking from Noch come in a transparent gel to hold them. After gluing in place with wood glue, the gel is invisible. 

As agulhas de pinheiro forma uma experiencia com corda e tinta para tingir couro. Cortei a crda em troços curtos, desfiei e deixei ficar durante usn tempos a "marinar". Não fiquei muito satisfeito, porque quando a tinta seca, cria uma películka e as agulhas ficaram coladas entre si.

The pine tree needles were an experiment with rope and dye for leather. Cut the rope in small stretches and dipped them in the dy for a while. I'm not pleased with the result as when the dye dries it forms a film gluing the needle leaves.

Um toque de cor no diorama que não tem figuras. Foi a maneira que arranjei de argumentar como a Natureza está indiferente à loucura humana.

A touch of colour in a diorama without figures. It was my way to state  how nature is indifferent to human madness.
