Este cais e o barracão foram usados como cenário numa comédia romântica passada no Alaska. Não devem ter retirado logo o letreiro.

The pier and warehouse were used as location for a romantic comedy allegedly in Alaska. The sign must have stayed long after the shooting.

A CONSTRUÇÃO DO MODELO / BUILDING THE MODEL

Escolhi a escala 1/160 para que os pormenores impressos resultassem melhor. Mudei a localização do armazém para uma praia para destacar o modelo e evitar o trabalho de construir um diorama de um porto.

 I chose 1/160 as the printed details work better in this scale. I “moved” the warehouse to a beach, as I just wanted to enhance the model and definitely avoiding building an elaborate diorama with a harbour. Nevertheless I made some small changes, the most obvious being the extension of the pier by printing two of them.

A água é representada com medium gel acrílico. Enaqunto não seca, é branca, depois começa a ficar transparent.

The water is made with acrylic medium gel. It is solid white when applied, but after a while with the drying it becoes transparent.  

Ainda não está totalmente seco o gel, mas já dá uma ideia de como vai ficar. Usei uma espátula para representar um mar encapelado, batido pelo vneto

Not yet entirely dry, but it gives a notion of the final results. I used a spatula to apply the gel in order to give the impression of the water agitated by the wind.

 

A junta do cartão que usei para delimitar o bordo da base não ficou bem, tentei disfarçar com betume, mas foi o melhor que pude fazer.

The joint of the cardoard side wasn’t well made. I tried to disguise it with putty, but this was the best I could do.
